The Founder

It is impossible to ignore the compelling call to share the essence of Safari life and the soul of Africa, when you know and love it, as deeply as I do. For me, this is not just a passion—it is a lifelong commitment, deeply woven with my very being. Africa's landscapes, wildlife, and vibrant cultures are much more than just destinations; they are a part of who I am, and it is this profound connection that drives me to share its magic with others.

Hello, I'm Nthenya Schroeder, and East African safaris are the heartbeat of my soul. From a young age, I was immersed in the wild, sharing unforgettable moments visiting lions, leopards, zebras, elephants, and countless other creatures alongside my mum, Anna. A trailblazer in both aviation and safaris in post-independence Kenya, she taught me the values of conservancy, African altruism, responsible safari practices, and the joy of bush aviation. For 42 years, I've learned from her and the extraordinary people who surrounded us, shaping my deep connection to the land and its wildlife.

Why I founded Safi African Adventures

My heart beats for Africa, and every moment away only deepens my longing for its vast savannahs. Though based in the U.S, my husband and I return annually to Kenya’s embrace—to the landscapes, cultures, and people that feel like home.

The safari bug bit me before I could walk, and today, that same love has captured my husband’s heart. He’s become a true ambassador of the Kenyan safari experience, and with his encouragement, I was inspired to create this agency. Helping others discover this magic—through consultation, planning, and guiding—has become a restorative journey that I cherish as deeply as the safaris themselves.

The PARTNER

East Africa has changed my life.

In 2014, I went on my first safari, and it completely redefined my world. Growing up with National Geographic magazines and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, I thought I knew what to expect—safari vehicles, savannahs, and iconic wildlife. In reality, nothing could have prepared me for the adventure that awaited. From the moment our twin-prop plane touched down on a dirt airstrip—narrowly missing three giraffes—I knew I was in a place unlike any other.

Over the next four days, I encountered animals and people in ways I could never have imagined—lions, elephants, cheetahs, rhinos, and even the elusive leopard. Ten years later, I still struggle to put into words the profound impact of that experience.

When I first met Nthenya, she spoke of her dream of sharing the safari experience. A year later, as we flew out of Kenya, I finally understood why. I now see the magic in her vision as we guide our guests through Kenya’s breathtaking landscapes, helping them discover what safari truly means.

Even after countless game drives, I’m still in awe of the unexpected moments and new lessons each journey brings. I can't wait to show you why Kenya has become one of my greatest passions.
